A wedding is a big event wherein the hosts, especially the bride and groom, are entitled to deliver their own speech. It is the time when the guests await for what the involved parties will say to the public, then making the wedding speech truly an important part of the event.
Unfortunately, not all wedding speeches are delivered successfully. So instead of laughing and cheering, the guests will tend to look at their watches, waiting for the time when the speaker stops his or her speech.
That of course is a shame. So, how to keep the wedding speech perfect and the guests happy and lively? Well, one of the best things you can do for that big day is to prepare your speech properly and carefully.
Preparing the wedding speech is an easy and quick task to do provided that you know exactly what you are doing. So to make it right, decide primarily how you want your speech to be formed. Are you capable of making up your own?
If you’re not that confident, try to use some ready-made speeches, but make sure to change the names and dates. You can also adopt these speeches and use some more to form your own structure.
Whatever structure you may consider the important thing to note when delivering a wedding speech is to add some touch of sincerity and humor. Speakers should also pay close attention to the how the speech flows.
When forming your speech, take a look at how many minutes the delivery takes. We are talking about speech length here. Typically, a good speech is something that runs not too short and not too long.
A too short speech is considered by many as rude, while too long is boring. So the rule of thumb here is to keep your speech running for about five minutes. You can stretch it up to ten minutes though if you think you have a speech that is somewhat exceptional.
Considering the right subject is also of great importance when delivering a good wedding speech. You can start thinking about what suits best to the humor tastes of the audience to make your speech successful.
Also, make sure that your wedding speech not off topic. It should be related to the event you are attending, and if possible try to pull the attention and interest of the people involved.
You can add some punch lines or some sorts of guessing while delivering. You can also employ a combination of ideas or stories, and even some quotations. If you think you have the best idea, then make the most of it.
It is also a rule of thumb for every wedding speech to involve thank you’s and toasts. This is somewhat a customary. Finally, a successful wedding speech is delivered properly and readily.
This is done usually by a thorough practice, while paying attention to the visualization, eye contacts, and speech rhythm where the pauses, phrasing and timing come in.
So if you want your own wedding speech to flow in the right manner, then do some practices first. Just do it as many times as you can. Note that practice leads to great performance.
