Heard the True of Spandau Ballet? Are you familiar with Spandau Ballet band? Spandau Ballet is one of the most familiar bands in Britain.
Their name was first known by the masses, throughout Britain in the 1980s when they started to record their greatest hits to which the song “True” was included.
The True of Spandau Ballet was actually the third album of the band. According to some reviews, the music of the True of Spandau Ballet was inspired by a mixture of synthpop and funk.
It was released in 1983, but the overall music was highly influenced by soul, jazz, and R&B. Perhaps what is nice to know about True of Spandau Ballet is that it reached number 1 on the charts of the United Kingdom, and it even reached number 1 on America’s top ten.
Because of the popularity of the True of Spandau Ballet, several versions and adaptations of it were developed.
To mention, several reports noted that that the True of Spandau Ballet was then considered as the top five single in America and it was in 1991 that the song was sampled by the PM Dawn, a well-known spiritual hip hop act.

At the first sound of their name, you will mistake it as another form of ballet that originated in Spandau. Seemingly funny but this has been the common mistake of a number of people.
Spandau Ballet is an all European musical group composed of five men namely Tony Hadley (vocals), Gary Kemp (guitar), Steve Norman (saxophone and percussion), Martin Kemp (bass guitar) and John Keeble (drums).
Highly considered as one of the classic favorites- they were hailed as a brave, original and innovative band. Emerging from London’s underground and club scene of the late 70’s, they broke new ground for styles of electronic dance rhythms and white funk.
They notched up 20 hit singles and spent a combined total of nearly 500 weeks in the UK charts and achieved album sales in excess of 20 million copies worldwide.
To date, Spandau Ballet has 12 albums which were all internationally acclaimed. They are the following:
Journeys To Glory (1981), Diamond (1982), True (1983), Parade (1984), The Singles Collection (1985), The Twelve Inch Mixes (1986), Through The Barricades (1986), Heart Like A Sky (1989), The Best of Spandau Ballet (1991), Gold: The Best Of Spandau Ballet, Reformation (2003) and Spandau Ballet Live.

Heard about Swan Lake ballet? Ask anyone on the street or in your neighborhood to name a type of ballet, and find out what they’ll gonna say. Did they mention Swan Lake? Well, that’s no wonder.
Swan Lake ballet is undoubtedly the most popular form of ballet in the whole world. Thousands of people know it, and for them it’s the dance that confines the full spectrum of human feelings and emotions, like no other.
The Swan Lake ballet was first staged in 1877 at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, Russia. It is believed to be composed by Peter Tchaikovsky and it was until his death in 1883 that the Swan Lake ballet remained in the repertoire.
New revisions then emerged, highlighting particularly the Swan Lake ballet revision of Tchaikovsky’s brother, Modest, and the conductor Riccardo Drigo.
It was this revision actually that gained premiere in 1895 at the Mariinsky Theatre, St. Petersburg, with the choreography by Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov, the brilliant choreographer who fully developed the central dramatic idea of Swan Lake.

Also known by the name SFB, the San Francisco Ballet is by far the oldest professional ballet company in the United States, being founded in 1933 as part of the San Francisco Opera Ballet. There is more to say about this company, and to start, let’s take a look at its history.
History Of The Company
The San Francisco Ballet, as mentioned, was founded in 1933 as part of the San Francisco Opera Ballet. Initially, its main purpose is to train dancers to appear in full length opera productions.
However, the wind changed its direction and the San Francisco Ballet came out independently. The company created a name in the ballet world when the first production, Coppelia, was shown to the public in 1938, with the choreography of William Christensen.
That successful production was followed by another full length show, the Swan Lake. I guess many of you are familiar with it as it is the world’s most popular style of ballet that people in the streets can recognize it.
Another great production was also staged after the Swan Lake, The Nutcracker, and for the San Francisco Ballet Company itself, that was the first complete version of ballet ever shown onstage in the United States.

Dancing en pointe is not an easy thing to do in ballet. Learning en point ballet is by far the most challenging and essential part of the dance that every student should learn as keeping the feet in shape for dance is not always easy.
The reason? Our feet change shape with age and with other biological factors, or due to injuries incurred.
Basically, there’s a no way for the dancers of ballet to escape learning en pointe ballet as it is the most integral part of the dance. Yes, it is! However, en pointe ballet should not be attempted by a young or older dancer.
It should only be performed by those who are capable of doing it. As I’ve said, dancing en pointe ballet is not easy as pie. It involves a lot of balance, strength, endurance and of course harmony of the movements.
It is in fact a requirement for those who wish to perform it to have strong feet and legs so to successfully perform the dance. And, I bet for a regular student of ballet, learning the basics of en pointe ballet may take up to three or four years of practice.

Houston Ballet, a Houston-based ballet company, is known throughout America and the world as one of the best ballet companies ever developed.
It was in fact hailed by The New York Times as “one of the nation’s best ballet companies” for several reasons, most are attributed to the great performances they produced.
The Houston Ballet is by far the fourth largest ballet organization known to man. Recent reports have noted that the company has about 53 dancers who have won gold and silver medals at the international ballet competitions they have participated.
International, I said. And, today, such number of winning dancers will soar up high as the Houston Ballet is continually training students of ballet in their own academy.
The origin of Houston Ballet can be traced back to 1955 when it was founded as the Houston Ballet Company under the leadership of Tatiana Semenova who happened to be the best dancer of the Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo.
It was only after 14 years that the foundation was formed as a professional company, changing its name to Houston Ballet.

The history of ballet is separated in diverse famous European periods. Before we jump to those, let us discover first where this dance originated.
When Louis XIV was hailed king, his hobby was strongly supported and encouraged by Italian Cardinal Mazarin. In 1653, as a teenager, he achieved his most memorable feat as a dancer who wore a fancy golden Roman- cut corset and a kilt of golden rays.
In 1661, Louis XIV established the Academie Royale de Danse in a room of the Louvre, the world’s first ballet school. At the court, Moliere collaborated with Lully where Moliere was choreographing the steps and Lully was composing the music.
There was also another ballet master, Pierre Beauchamps, who worked with them in the interludes of the dramatic parts. Beauchamps was then appointed by Loius XIV as superintendent of the king’s ballets in the Academia Royale de Danse.
Now, Beauchamps is considered as one of the renowned “fathers of ballet” where he is also credited for standardizing the initial five foot positions of the dance.

First envisioned in 1841, Giselle ballet has become the byword of the 1841 romantic style. It is particularly identified by its unique human themes that depict a concrete picture of spirituality, hope, love and loss.
And, recognizing how it would create a great impact to the audience, the Giselle ballet was staged in 1980 at Rome, under the choreography of M.L. Lavrosvskij to the music of Adolphe Charles Adam.
It was through that production that the Giselle ballet first obtained a great reputation in the ballet world.
The Origin of Giselle
Giselle ballet was actually first conceived by a French poet, author and critic, Theophile Gautier. This man was also considered by that time as one of the greatest champions of the Romantic ballet.
According to some stories, the Giselle ballet was developed for one particular purpose – to honor the ballerina Carlotta Grisi.
This woman was whom the poet Gautier not only admired for her wonderful dancing, but also with whom he was in love. With that inspiration, he wrote the story of Giselle ballet.
