Frequently abbreviated as TWoP, Television Without Pity is a site on the web that offers detailed review of specific television reality shows and dramas, most of the time by scornful comments, on top of forums where members can talk about countless television related issues.
The website started through reviewing the TV show Dawson’s Creek and was initially named Dawson’s Wrap; afterwards it widened its range and altered its names to Mighty Big TV prior to deciding on the latest name.
The website is famous for its broad usage of the term “snark” to express its emblematic style of sardonic review; with their official saying “Spare the snark, spoil the networks”, taken from the popular saying “Spare the rod, spoil the child”.
Several producers and actors have been identified to visit the site. Aaron Sorkin, creator of The West Wing posted in the forums, where his experience is deemed to have motivated the episode “The U.S. Poet Laureate”;
In which the episode focuses on a character that posts something on his fan site and is fervently attacked by forum members for his violation of forum rules and his beliefs.

Have you seen the latest ad on your favorite food, perfume, bag, clothes, mobile phone, computer, TV, etc.? Are you so “in” the latest fad that you’ve already bought the trendiest and hippest accessories advertised? Are you updated with the newest TV commercial jingles and taglines?
These are simply the effects of television advertising to society. With more people patronizing TV these days, more and more people are carried away because of the TV ads also —- without even consciously knowing it.
What’s worse is that most of these viewers are negatively affected by it in a subconscious level. These advertisements hold a great impact and effect on the viewers especially the young ones.
Most of the ads usually convey their message effectively in just a few seconds that the audience have unknowingly captured the idea and internalized it — and the next thing they know, they are in the malls, buying the newest shampoo or soap or makeup.
The effects of television advertising may not look grave, but because of the subtlety of these effects, consumers just don’t know it but their minds are already absorbing it.

How do parents appease the restlessness and hyper-activeness of their children? During weekend mornings when moms are busy with housecleaning, food preparation, laundry, etc., and kids are running around and making a mess of everything else, how do moms mellow them down and keep them at bay? This is where TV comes in to the rescue.
Parents tend to breathe and relax for a few hours without the kids’ shouts and cries by letting them watch TV — showing cartoons, kid’s programs, and knowledge shows.
With stations airing these kinds of shows, parents can continue their morning routines and chores, and the children can enjoy and learn at the same time. It has truly improved and lightened the chaos in the homes.
But how did this all start? How did the children shows come about? What’s the history of children’s television? Who and when was this initiated?
It was in late 1939 that the first children entertainer or performer was shown on television, Burr Tillstrom of the NY World Fair. This time also, the National Broadcasting Company (NBC) started airing regular broadcasts but with limited programming time.

Behind every successful television program, whether it is a TV series or a TV movie or a TV show, there are always great minds that work for television production.
A “creator”, is someone who fabricates new concepts for television; this includes the idea, the characters, normally several crews, and at times a number of “big name” actors. They present it to different television networks, with the hope of finding one who’ll be interested.
After these creators “pitch” there ideas to networks, and a network is interested, this network orders a “pilot”, which is a sample of the episode, movie, or show.
Creating the pilot requires the arrangement and team of the entire concept to be put together. If the pilot succeeds with the network, the network then “picks up” the show for a next season show.
At times, a television production can be reserved for a “mid-season”, or is requested for re-writes and more reviews; this stage is more commonly known in television production as “Development Hell”.
Other times, the network will completely pass on the pilot, leaving the creator of the show forced to show it top other networks. A lot of shows however, never even make it past a pilot stage.

The world of television programming and broadcasting is a magnificent and fascinating industry. Audience and viewers enjoy the comfort of their homes while watching the shows on TV, but it’s a wonder that the great productions, shows, scenes, effects, acts, etc.
Simple though it may look, take a huge deal of risks and utilize a good deal of people, talents, and technology. What then makes a television production as effective and as efficient as people see it.
A television production may look simple and smooth as you see them shown on TV, but do you ever wonder about the scenes, actions, and preparations behind the camera — try to look beyond what your eyes can see.
It’s definitely not an easy task, it involves numerous staff and production people, high-end and high-tech equipments and gadgets, and of course a huge amount of investment.
It’s just interesting to see that one production, no matter how simple it may be — a 5-minute news update by one news anchor, or a 30-minute game show by two or three hosts — needs big production preparation and involves as many backstage people as possible.

Unlike all other inventions, television history involves several scientists who all made significant contributions, which were pivotal for the idea of having an electronic device reproduce moving images to materialize. Hence, the invention of the television cannot be credited to one person alone.
Television History
Notably, without the discovery of electromagnetism by Michael Faraday and Joseph Henry in 1831, the television device would not have been conceived.
The television in itself consequently utilizes electromagnetism to produce and receive images from a broadcasting source. In 1862, Abbe Giovanna Caselli invented the Pantelegraph that enabled him to send a still image through wires.
In late 1870’s, Eugen Goldstein’s description of the “cathode rays”, or the light emitted when electric currents are induced into a vacuum tube, was consequential to realize the device. The first television set ever designed was a mechanical device, which was far different from modern television.
The German scientist Paul Nipkow came up with the rotating disc technology (the Nipkow disc) able to transmit images through the use of wires in 1884 but was eventually discarded in television history when other inventors developed the electronic systems.

What’s the essence of a television production without an important ingredient — the camera? Would a production be successful without the magic of the camera and its accessories? Truly, one can say that the television production’s lifeline passes through the veins of the camera.
In the first place, without the television camera equipment, there wouldn’t be any show or production to watch for.
This is where the first transmission of the studio production happens, so it can be viewed and enjoyed in the home television sets.
As technology progresses, so are the camera equipments. Though there have been much improvement and enhancement in the camera technology, it is important to note that the main parts are still there, as these make up the framework of a camera.
In a production, whether it’s set in or out of the studio, the camera operator must check that the equipments are in place, in order, and in proper condition.
He must see to it that the principal parts are functioning well, making sure that the camera head — including the lens, imaging device, and viewfinder, the camera mount, and the pedestal, are all ok.

With so many brands in the market today, both new and tested brands, it is truly overwhelming on how and which to choose with its wide array of product models and designs.
One brand offers this while the other brand offers that, one brand has this feature while another one has that feature, etc., so how then can we decide which brand to choose for a particular product?
This wide selection of brands has its pros and cons, an advantage and a disadvantage of sorts. At least, you get to compare and weigh which gives you the best offer and features.
Just take for example televisions, for just one product you can actually have hundreds of choices to choose from, with different manufacturers and brands showing and displaying the technology and uniqueness of its product.
Some of these are Samsung, Sharp, Philips, JVC, Toshiba, Pioneer, Panasonic, NEC, and Sony televisions. Not only are there so many brands, there are also so many product types, designs, and models to select.
This only shows that consumers nowadays have so much power over their purchases. One should not only limit to the brand type, rather he should check and identify the features so he can list and combine all the features he prefers in one unit.

HDTV or true high-definition televisions first appeared in 1998. Since then, consumers’ outlook on televisions has changed.
From spending on a few hundred dollars over a television set, people aiming to have theater-quality images are now turning to televisions that cost a month’s salary for other people.
Reviews on HDTV can be found all over because people are evaluating on the value of spending over $1000 for a piece of entertainment unit.
To have an idea of how much more you can get from an HDTV in terms of viewing quality, compare it with analogue and digital.
Reviews Of HDTV: A Comparison
Analogue TV normally is able to display those standard-definition programs coming from broadcasting companies like those on regular TV, satellite transmissions, standard cable, and Freeview.
It doesn’t have the ability to do progressive-scan DVD or HDTV. On the other hand, digital television derives images they display from Freeview broadcasts using an internal digital tuner. An HDTV, meanwhile, delivers all the attributes of analogue and digital.
HDTV’s are practically digital and display resolution that surpasses way over the analogue models. It’s quite important to check for reviews of HDTV since this is a new technology with entertainment applications.
