Garage Door Mosquito Netting »

Mosquitoes are not exactly intelligent insects, but they would know when they are left with some other options to go inside the house. If you have set up screens on your doors and windows, make sure you don’t leave out your garage.

You might have wondered how mosquitoes manage to get inside the car that you always make sure to close. Well, mosquitoes may be smart creatures after all. If they can’t get inside the house, they enter the car through the air vents, waiting for the right moment to get a bite out of you.

Garage door mosquito netting is a good way to keep mosquitoes out of your car. Of course, if you’re thinking of setting up a garage door mosquito netting, this would mean that you have installed mosquito screens or curtains on other entrances to the house as well. Otherwise, the garage door mosquito netting wouldn’t serve much of its purpose.

There are garage door mosquito nettings readily available in the market. Standard sizes include 16’x7’ and 9’x7’. However, if you need a different garage door mosquito netting size, you may visit www.skeeterdefeater.com to order a custom-made one.

Natural Infant Mosquito Repellant »

Mosquitoes are not as stupid as they look. They won’t go away just because you’ve been flaunting your fly swatter at them. In fact, mosquitoes are maybe even endowed with brains that are larger than the size of their tummies.

Well, people said that mosquitoes used to be slow. And I mean real slow that you can apparently kill them using your feet. Hundreds of years of swatting at them probably motivated them to move fast, letting you do some stunts before you can successfully kill one.

Otherwise, they would have been forced to extinction. Perhaps, this has driven people to come up with better means to drive mosquitoes away.

Research found out that mosquitoes are attracted more to children and people beyond 50 years old. Mosquitoes are carriers of deadly diseases like malaria, West Nile Virus, and dengue, among others.

Even if there are only a few species carrying these diseases, mosquito bites in general are nuisances. There are people who have allergic reactions to these. Babies should be well-guarded against mosquito bites because they have weaker immune systems.

Choosing A Mosquito Repellant »

Mosquito RepellantThe most active ingredient in a mosquito repellant is called the DDT. This is what makes a mosquito repellant effective in keeping off mosquitoes from any where near your skin to sting. Yes it’s effective, but how? And will it compromise safety?

Mosquito repellants containing DEET (N, N-diethyl-m-toluamide) or picaridin (KBR 3023) typically provide longer-lasting protection compared with other mosquito repellant products.

This DDT found in mosquito repellant products, is among the approved or registered ingredients in mosquito repellants by the US EPA (Environmental Protection Agency). The DDT then is proven efficient in driving away mosquitoes and its potential effects on humans and the environment is also carefully studied.

However, the issue about its safety comes when the DDT’s possible adverse effects to health or environment becomes vague as using a mosquito repellant according to product label instructions becomes unclear to consumers. How should we really choose among DDT containing repellant products?

Some people contend that the more the percentage of DDT in a mosquito repellant then the more the protection you would get from mosquito bites. The higher concentration of the active ingredient a repellent contains, then the longer time it protects against mosquito bites.

Fog ‘Em Down For Now - Mosquito Fogger »

With the threat of mosquito borne diseases like West Nile virus, dengue, and malaria, it is essential that you keep your self and your loved ones protected.

There are several options to rid your area of mosquitoes and avoid being bitten. Aside from applying repellent, using traps, plants and candles that repel mosquitoes, or using netting to keep the mosquitoes away, you can also use a mosquito fogger around your home.

The great selection of mosquito fogger depends on the amount of mosquitoes in your area. This shall determine the size of the mosquito fogger that you will use. Where you live also verifies your need for a mosquito fogger.

If you have a fountain or water area and using larva mosquito dunks still keep you noticing mosquitoes around, then you may want to use a mosquito fogger to eliminate those flying insects in your patio.

Dunk ‘Em Out Naturally - Mosquito Dunks »

mosquito dunksMosquito Dunks beat all heavy chemical control methods in eliminating larvae. Used by professionals for over a decade, Mosquito Dunks have proven their value in destroying mosquito larvae even before they mature into biting adult pests – and in a natural way.

Mosquito Dunks have an active ingredient called BMI or Bacillus Thuringiensis subspecies Israelensis, a bacterium agent biologically toxic to mosquito larvae as well as black and psychodid fly larvae as it attacks its digestive system.

Mosquito Dunks are a type of larvacide which are sustained-release natural organic non-toxic substances. Hence, Mosquito Dunks represent a major breakthrough compared with the traditional toxic chemical approach to mosquito control. It’s safe for people and the environment. It is never harmful to children, pets, and plants. Plus, it’s easy to use!

Mosquito Dunks usually come in a package of 6, and each dunk is good for 30 days and treats an area of about 100 sq. ft. of water surface. You only have to dunk one piece every month to rid of mosquitoes for the whole season!

Dunks will float in your roof gutters, rain barrel, old automobile tires, ditches, unused swimming pools, decorative pond, water garden, tree holes, flower pots, and every place where water accumulates around your home including your lovely birdbath or fountain.

The Coleman® Mosquito Deleto™ »

Mosquito traps don’t just trap mosquitoes – it traps and kills (not just drive away) mosquitoes that have developed into the most menacing pest they could possibly be. The Coleman® Mosquito Deleto™ is one and probably number one.

The Coleman® Mosquito Deleto™ uses modern technology to attract mosquitoes and lure them into a trap where they will eventually die out. It uses various attractants like CO2, Octenol, and heat that mimic human respiration and blood- impression as bait to attract (only) mosquitoes seeking its next victim.

As the mosquito is lured to the trap, they are captured by a vacuum and killed without posing risks for the environment. Unlike mosquito (bug) zapper products, the Coleman® Mosquito Deleto™ lures only mosquitoes, plus the trap does not use harsh chemicals using only an airflow device to exterminate.

Mosquitoes are captured by an impellor fan that draws them into a net where they receive a final blow of death desiccation.

That’s the deleting effect – the power of the Coleman® Mosquito Deleto™ — even stronger when used strategically. The varying models and sizes of the Coleman® Mosquito Deleto™ are perfect for whatever sized and located yard it needs to be.

Wise Community-Wide Mosquito Control »

mosquito controlMosquitoes are annoying – and dangerous. Mosquito control has been a problem since Jurassic. We need to be able to find a way to control them at least in our era and area. So how do we do it?

First things to consider are the following:

  • Mosquito control could be done naturally (citronella, garlic barrier, mosquito dunks);
  • Mosquito control could be innovative (protective clothing, screens, mosquito netting, adhesive fly trap, high-tech traps, or electric fan);
  • Mosquito control includes use of chemicals (larva-/adulti-/insecti-/ pesticide, mosquito fogger, mosquito sprays, DDT repellant).
  • Mosquito control involves health and science (habitat modification/removal, bio-control/introduction of natural mosquito predators);
  • And, Mosquito control could be prevented.

Some of these measures, however, are often not enough, and a special combination with specialty products used to combat mosquitoes is required.

Also each of the products used for mosquito control have varying degrees of effectiveness, and it is important to know that some may be better than others. Yet one way or another, doing none of these things will end you up either having a sting irritation or dengue.

Mosquito Bites Remedies To Choose From »

What do you do when you itch? You scratch? Yes it’s OK to scratch, minimally, and only if you observe some remedies, mosquito bites remedies.

Although advices vary far and wide, mosquito bites remedies have been condensed into the limited best ones because of also limited possibilities of treatment. Unfortunately, there is no mosquito cure for the diseases that many mosquitoes carry.

However if you have been bitten, there still are the best mosquito bites remedies that could at least tone down the swelling and stop you from scratching. Here are some mosquito bites remedies:

First to do is that if you get bitten, is to immediately wash the area with soap and water soon as feel itchy or notice the swelling.

Also, you can ice a bite to keep the irritation from spreading to the body, to reduce the swelling and inflammation, to soothe the heat, as well as to numb the area and lessen the urge to itch. After which, you can directly apply a cloth soaked in very hot steaming but not boiling water.

Reducing The Risks Of Mosquito Bites »

Mosquito BitesMosquitoes are sneaky. Their attack only becomes apparent because of the immune reaction that their mosquito bites provoke in our bodies. Some people though have little or no reaction to their bites.

On the other hand others can become hyper- sensitive with mosquito bites causing allergies, blistering, bruising, and large inflammatory reactions.

If you’re not getting any of these symptoms then you’re lucky; lucky more when your mosquito bites don’t carry diseases, because they do, no matter how minimal the death from it as being lightning- struck.

We all are at risk of mosquito bites notwithstanding, and the equivalent reaction it gives to our bodies. Every time we pass by the woods, go out camping, hang out in the porch, work in the garden, and while we’re sleeping – there is a risk for mosquito bites, its accompanying diseases, or scars from the itch.

As long as there will be blood for their feeding and mosquitoes breeding – there will always be risks, risks for mosquito bites, risk for disease. The least we could do is to reduce it, be protected from it, prepare for it, to prevent it.

You may not be getting a lot of mosquito bites by following these:

Mosquito Bite Reactions May At First Be Subtle »

What happens when you get bitten by a mosquito? You get sick? - No, not instantly, and not always.

When a (female) mosquito bites a human, she sucks out the human blood while also injecting saliva and anti-coagulants. The foreign substance from the mosquito is not venomous.

And, the diseases that the mosquito caries is not from the mosquito’s system itself, rather, it comes from three disease-causing organisms:

  • The protozoan Plasmodium parasite (malaria),
  • The parasitic filarial worm or nematodes (human elephantiasis and canine heartworm disease),
  • The arboviruse agents (yellow fever, dengue, LaCrosse encephalitis, St. Louis encephalitis, Western, Eastern and Venezuelan equine encephalomyelitis, and other viral diseases).

It is these organisms that actually cause the disease and the mosquitoes only act as means to carry them along with the disease, which is why mosquitoes are not called disease-causers but rather disease-carriers.

The only thing that really comes from mosquitoes are the mosquito bite reactions caused by the puncturing of the skin by the mosquitoes proboscis and the introduction of its irritant anti-coagulant saliva leading to succeeding skin reactions like having little red bumps on your skin that are often itchy.
