Women lacrosse rules are very similar with men’s lacrosse rules. However, women lacrosse is non-contact compared to men’s lacrosse. Women lacrosse rules allow twelve players in the game, they are composed of six defenders, five attackers and a goalkeeper.

The main objective of the game is to score by shooting the ball into the goal and the team with the most points wins the game.  Women lacrosse rules also depend on the level of the game.

For collegiate women lacrosse, the game lasts for 60 minutes with two 30-minute halves. For high school girls, the game is 50 minutes long with two 25-minute halves. Both levels have two timeouts per game, this includes overtime.

Stringing A Lacrosse StickMany lacrosse sticks with 5D or 5 Diamond mesh are strung poorly because stringing a lacrosse stick can be tricky. Here are some guidelines to make the task easier:

  • First, you need to gather all your materials for stringing a lacrosse stick, which will include a lacrosse head,
  • 1 piece of 5 Diamond mesh that should be stretched out thoroughly, a lighter and scissors (use both with care),
  • 1 piece of 19-inch top string, 2 pieces of 20-inch sidewall string, 1 piece of 12-inch bottom string and about 2 to 3 pieces of 28-inch nylon shooter.

In stringing a lacrosse stick, begin with the top string. The face of the lacrosse head should be facing you. It is recommended to begin at the right side. Do not forget that for the top string, you want to make sure you are using the 5-diamond row.

Insert the cross lace through the hole at the top sidewall and then under or over the diamond, depending on your actual view.

Then, put the lace through the first string whole on the top.  Then through the next two diamonds and back through the top hole and into the next string hole. Repeat for two more top string holes.

Men’s lacrosse is a contact sport, the object of which is to shoot the lacrosse ball into the goal of the opponent. The team with the most goals will win.

According to NCAA lacrosse rules, the game is played by two teams, each with ten players consisting of three defense players, three midfielders, three attack men and a goalie.

The lacrosse field is divided into two areas – the defensive side and the offensive side. At least four players should be in the defensive side including the goalie and three must be on the offensive side. The three midfielders may go anywhere in the field.

In the NCAA lacrosse rules, the duration of collegiate games is 60 minutes and is divided into quarters or 15-minute sections. Teams are given two-minute breaks after the first quarter and the third quarter and a ten-minute halftime interval.

Little was known about the history of Native American lacrosse. The first French settlers in the Huron country were Jesuits but only recorded less on the details of the game.

Information provided tells that the first games were played in North American tribes near the St. Lawrence River in New York and Ontario. It was then spread by a group of tribes in the North Eastern United States called Iroquois.
