Gourmet Cooking Wood: Your Choices And How To Use Them

Using gourmet cooking wood is an excellent way to cook your food because this helps you capture the natural essence of wood adding flavors to pork, beef and fish.

Gourmet cooking wood produces flavorful smokes that can be infused into the food while grilling. The most popular woods used are Oakwood, Western Red Cedar, Hickory and Mesquite.

To obtain that flavorful smoke, the gourmet cooking wood should be soaked in water for at least 2 hours. Afterwards, preheat your grill on high fire and once it is hot, brush the planks with olive oil.

Burn the planks until smoke appears. You can control the smoke by using a small squirt bottle to extinguish the flames. Also, you should also flip the planks to balance the heat.

Once ready, put the food on top of the plank and then cover the grill to retain the aromatic smoke.
