Rock Climbing Game – The Tricks and Twists

You think rock climbing is just a sport of physical test – think again! There is so much you can do with rock climbing even in an indoor setting. Add a little twist in some of your rock climbing activities, include a new rock climbing game and experience a whole new way of loving this popular sport.

While on a rock climbing gym, climbers often engage themselves in rock climbing workouts. A very popular rock climbing game redefines the way a climber does his regular workout.

The game called “Add On” requires a pair of climbers with the same level of skills. This activity is a perfect way to enhance mental alertness and endurance of the climber.

This is done by creating a series of moves and is acted it out on the wall. This rock climbing game ends when the two players get exhausted.

Another worthwhile rock climbing game is the “Pointer”. It’s a good way to increase the focusing ability of a climber. Pointer requires two players – one is the climber and the other is the pointer.

By using a long stick, the pointer directs a specific hold on the wall and the climber needs to use that hold in order to ascend. The pointer must carefully choose a good hold but not too difficult for the climber to reach.

The climber’s turn will end if he reaches the top or when he falls, then the players switch roles. “Memory” is another fun rock climbing game. Again, this game needs two players at least, one player creates a series of four to ten moves.

While this may look like the Add On game, the Memory rock climbing game is made tougher by not using any marks or tapes. The climber must need to memorize the sequence of the holds and use them as he climbs.

In practical application, the game Memory develops the climber’s preview and recall of proper holds to be utilized in an actual setting.

Want a more daring and difficult rock climbing game? The “Blind Climb” is said to be a noteworthy challenge. Two climbers are blindfolded and use only their instinct and their sense of touch as they inch their way up to victory. The first to reach the top wins. This game enhances stability and strength of a climber.

“Get Dressed” or “Get Undressed” is fun too! Set up a variety of gears or clothing like shorts, pants, sweaters, caps, or shoes on the rock climbing wall. Then the climber passes by these spots and wears each item.

Another version makes the climber undress a certain piece of clothing. It’s a good way to keep balance, positioning and endurance.

Try and challenge yourself with these rock climbing games. They are a fun alternative to your usual rock climbing workouts. You’ll never look at rock climbing game the same way again.
