Kinds Of Running Events

Running EventRunning is a good exercise. But it is more than that. Running is an activity that everyone can have join for fun, for personal challenge and even for competition.

To accommodate these activities, many groups and companies organize running events that incorporate exercise, fun and games.

One of the most common running events is the marathon. A marathon is a running event that spans 42.195 kilometers. Modern marathons are usually tied up with a special event or a charity.

The marathon is the longest run that can be attempted. In fact, many runners consider completing a marathon one of the most difficult tasks that one can achieve.

To train themselves for this running event, marathon runners usually set a goal to reach a maximum of 32 kilometers in their longest weekly run.

Experienced marathon runners can even cover distances over 100 miles in their weekly practice. However, this increases the risk of incurring a training injury.

Another event is the 1,500 meter dash. This running event is part of a series of event called a decathlon. For the 1,500 meter dash, the runners go around a track in a stadium or oval. It takes 3 ¾ laps to finish this running event with each lap averaging 55 seconds.

In this event, speed and aerobic conditioning is important. In terms of short races, this is a difficult race to compete. These races can extend up to 3,200 meters, exactly 8 laps in a 400 meter track.

Another sport that incorporates a running event is the Ironman Triathlon. This is one of the most physically demanding sports events of all time. First, the contestants have to swim 2.4 miles into the ocean. Then, it is followed by a 112 mile bicycle ride.

Finally, the contestants will change and get prepared for the running event. This is a gruesome 26 mile marathon. Many contestants cannot finish this race at all.

Joining running events is fun. Just like any other club or group, you can meet fellow runners, talk to them and update each other on latest running apparel and running techniques.

Getting in touch with them is easy. Most runners hang out in stores that specialize in running apparel. They usually post running events in those stores. Some big cities even have formal clubs or groups that are composed of runners.

If there’s no club or store but you are interested in joining such an event, you can always check the internet for running events in your area.
