It will always be a boxing bout worth watching and one will surely love. Professional boxing may have some different rules as that with the amateurs. They have more rounds in boxing bouts and championship bouts last 12 rounds. Previously it was 15 rounds, but due to the boxer’s safety reasons – it was reduced.
This started on 1982 when boxer Duk Koo Kim died after the fight against Ray Mancini in the 14th round. It was a very sad and unfortunate ending in professional boxing history, but one that opened the eyes of the organizers.
It was 3 months after that fateful event, when WBC started to have the 12 rounds for the championship professional boxing matches. Indeed, for the boxing purists, this was displeasure - nevertheless, the ruling had to stand.
Another reason for such a shorter bout was due to the fact that televised professional boxing bouts would take too long if it still went to 15 rounds.
With three rounds less, the professional boxing matches were still very much able to provide quality entertainment to boxing aficionados. The boxing bouts did not lose its quality and became even more exciting to watch. The lesser number of rounds was not a hindrance to getting beautiful matches in the sport.
With the caliber of the many great professional boxers, the fame and popularity of professional boxing continued to grow. Championship bouts were events to watch out for – and when the bells of the first rounds rang, these professional boxing fights surely never disappointed boxing enthusiasts.
Even in today’s professional boxing bouts, quality boxers are still many. New and fresh fighters replace those greats in the sport who have hung their gloves to retire.
Truly amazing to watch, with speed and power, these professional boxers of today are as fun to watch. Many continue to love the sport with the exciting & thrilling fights it continues to offer.
